“Homegrown Technologies Could Play a Key Role in the World’s Water Future” - Aquanty Featured in CWRA’s Water News Magazine

Kirkwood, A. (2024, September 12). Homegrown technologies could play a key role in the world’s water future, Volume 43 (No 4 – Fall 2024), https://cwra.org/resources/water-news-online/

We need to get past ‘political squares’ to the scale of ecological challenge. That typically necessitates models that extend from the watershed scale through to the regional and national level.

We’re proud to share that Aquanty’s real-time hydrologic forecasting capabilities have been highlighted in the Fall 2024 issue of the Canadian Water Resources Association (CWRA) Water News Magazine. This article explores the innovative tools we’ve developed to tackle 21st-century water resource challenges, positioning Aquanty as a leader in hydrologic system modelling both in Canada and internationally.

The article shines a spotlight on the impactful work we’ve done with our partners, such as the Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association (MFGA) and South Nation Conservation Authority. These collaborations have transformed water management strategies, empowering agricultural producers, emergency managers, and landowners to make informed decisions using our HydroGeoSphere™ (HGS) platform. You can learn more about these projects through the flyers we’ve created, which provide detailed insights into these critical initiatives.

You give the [HydroGeoSphere] model the precipitation and climate characteristics and it will show you where the water goes. We use it as the basis for near real-time forecasting with our HGSRT solution, for all-of-Canada modelling with Canada1Water, for on-demand soil moisture forecasting, and for machine learning/AI-based forecasting. All of those together make up our HydroClimateSight suite.

At Aquanty, we believe the future of water resource management lies in actionable science — using cutting-edge tools to transform complex hydrologic data into clear, user-friendly insights for everyone from farmers to policymakers. Our focus remains on refining our solutions and addressing the global water challenges we face today.

I don’t know how we could do it without the kinds of technologies we have today. In every case, the goal is to get the right information to the people on the land who need to make decisions.
