NEW version of HGS (July 2023 - Revision 2553)

The HydroGeoSphere Revision 2553 (July 2023) is now available for download.

As usual we’ve corrected all user reported bugs, and this month we’ve included a few new commands which should really simplify the initialization of model domains. In the past, initializing or ‘turning on’ a model domain (i.e. surface, ET, channel, fracture, well, tile drain domains) required several steps… select mesh components, read in a material property file, define a zone, read a material property, etc. With the addition of the new “initialize domain” commands below you can reproduce the earlier process by issuing a single command:

  • initialize domain’ initializes a domain of a user specified type for the current set of chosen elements/faces/segments (depending on the domain) and assigns all selected elements/faces/segments to zone number one. It is added mainly for convenience and should avoid the common mistake of not calling the new zone command at least once at the start of defining a domain (see hydrosphere_ref.pdf).

  • initialize default surface domain’ that defines a surface domain on the top faces, assigns those faces to zone number one, and sets default properties for that zone (see hydrosphere_ref.pdf).

  • initialize default et domain’ that defines an ET domain on the top faces, assigns those faces to zone number one, and sets default properties for that zone (see hydrosphere_ref.pdf).

We’ve also added a new command called ‘make node observation pointsthat will make it easier for experienced users to define large numbers of observation points using a simple node list!

As always, we are committed to the continued improvement to the user experience. Do you have suggestions for new commands or improvements to the user experience? Send your ideas to support@aquanty.com!

The latest installers are available on the HGS download page and a full list of changes/updates can be found in the release notes.
