NEW version of HGS (HGS PREMIUM February 2025 (REVISION 2778)
The HydroGeoSphere Revision 2778 (February 2025) is now available for download.
This update brings improvements to visualization accuracy, evapotranspiration settings, and groundwater table depth calculations, ensuring more precise simulations and enhanced usability. Specifically, updates to Tecplot and VTU outputs address visualization artifacts by refining how nodal coordinates are stored. Enhancements to default evapotranspiration (ET) properties introduce pressure-head-based limits for transpiration and evaporation, providing more control over the ET process. Additionally, new commands improve mesh generation, data export, and groundwater table interpolation, simplifying workflows for users. Here’s the full list of updates:
Updated default ET properties
Default transpiration and evaporation limiting saturations now use pressure heads instead of saturation values.
Fixed a bug where default pressure head values were incorrectly applied to saturation-based variables.
Default canopy storage and initial interception storage set to zero.
Adjusted default transpiration fitting parameters to C1 = 0.1, C2 = 0.2, C3 = 2.
New & updated commands (see hydrosphere_ref.pdf)
New command
write list
: Reads a filename and a vertical list in grok, then writes the list to an ASCII file.Useful for exporting structured data for further processing.
New command
read vtk 2d grid
: Allows users to import a 2D grid from a legacy ASCII VTK mesh file during mesh generation in grok.Expands support for additional mesh file formats.
New command
interpolate depth to gw table
: Enables interpolation when computing the depth to the groundwater table, improving the accuracy of depth-to-GWT calculations.Affects groundwater table values reported in binary output files.
Other notable updates:
Default tile drain type is now set to Manning.
You can find details about these new features in the HydroGeoSphere Reference Manual. And as always, we are committed to the continued improvement to the user experience. Do you have suggestions for new commands or improvements to the user experience? Send your ideas to support@aquanty.com!
