Steven Berg, PhD, P.Geo. - President and CEO, Senior Hydrogeologist

Dr. Berg is President and CEO at Aquanty Inc., and an Adjunct Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Waterloo. He received his BSc (2005), MSc (2007), and PhD (2011) degrees in Earth Sciences, all at the University of Waterloo and his MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University (2022). During his doctoral work, Steve developed extensive technical knowledge in heterogeneous site characterization and numerical modelling. In particular, he conducted the first fully three-dimensional field application of transient hydraulic tomography for mapping a highly heterogeneous glaciofluvial aquifer-aquitard system.

Steve joined Aquanty in January 2013 as a Senior Hydrogeologists and his projects focused on applying HydroGeoSphere (HGS), a fully integrated surface/subsurface flow and transport model, to very challenging real world problems; including basin scale water resource problems; and mine closure assessments. Since joining Aquanty, Steve has been actively involved in the business side of the company and moved into the role of President and CEO in early 2015.
